About Us
A Family Tradition Built Around Cars
Trask Automotive opened its doors in 2013, but our shop's story began long before that. For Rodney Trask, working with cars was never simply a career choice. He grew up around automobiles and motorsports through his father, George Trask, who was a respected driver and race car builder with experience working with and racing alongside notable names in the automotive and racing world.
That early exposure created a lifelong passion for cars and performance. Rodney eventually followed his own path into racing, earning back-to-back SCCA Southeast Championships in 2004 and 2005 in an Austin Healey Sprite. His years in motorsports gave him hands-on experience with performance, diagnostics, and the details that can make a difference behind the wheel.
Today, that family connection to automobiles continues through Trask Automotive, where Rodney's son, Dylan, has joined the business and is carrying the family tradition into another generation.
From Dealership Experience to an Independent Shop
Before opening Trask Automotive, Rodney spent 25 years working at a Volkswagen dealership. That long dealership career provided extensive experience working specifically with Volkswagen vehicles and their systems. He later moved to an independent repair shop, where his responsibilities expanded well beyond working as a technician.
During four years at the independent shop, Rodney worked in several different roles, including:
- Automotive technician
- Service advisor
- Parts specialist
- Customer service and repair coordination
- Vehicle diagnosis and troubleshooting
- Day-to-day automotive repair operations
That combination of technical and customer-facing experience eventually led Rodney to pursue something of his own. In 2013, he opened Trask Automotive to put his experience to work for customers while building a shop around the European vehicles he knows best.
European Vehicle Specialists
Today, Trask Automotive focuses exclusively on Audi, BMW, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Volkswagen, and Porsche. Keeping our shop focused on these brands allows our team to concentrate its experience and knowledge on the specific engineering and service needs of European vehicles.
The shop's expertise is supported by ASE-certified technicians and a VW Master Technician, continuing the Volkswagen experience that has been central to Rodney's professional background for decades.
Whether a customer needs routine maintenance, brake service, an oil change, diagnostics, or a more involved repair, Trask Automotive approaches each vehicle with the same attention to detail that comes from years of working with European automobiles.
An Auto Repair Shop Built for Customers
The Trask family tradition is about more than cars themselves. It is also about passing knowledge from one generation to the next and building something that can serve the local community for years to come.
For customers, that philosophy is reflected in a shop designed to make automotive service more convenient. Trask Automotive offers a waiting room with Wi-Fi and TV, loaner vehicles, and after-hours drop-off. Qualifying services can also be financed through Affirm, and repairs are backed by a 24-month/24,000-mile warranty.
Our Kernersville German car repair shop has also been recognized as a CARFAX Top Rated Service Center in the area for the past five years, adding to its history of serving Kernersville-area drivers.
